These clips offer illustrative content to highlight mise en scène, or what we see within a scene (and why). They also focus on the auteur, or the director, and their directorial curatorial responsibilities. Taken together, considering the auteur and mise en scène helps us reflect upon how a director creates a certain feel or vibe for a film while also keeping form and content in alignment to heighten effects and impact. Each clip explores a particular aspect of one of the two films we have recently watched (in the case of Anderson, many of his films are covered, in brief).
Enjoy these clips to further understand mise en scène and the concept of the auteur. Consider referring to the concepts covered, along with those covered in Moving Pictures as you consider Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette, and Jordan Peele's film Get Out (both films to be screened soon).
